Isabella is officially weaned now. It was kind of an unplanned opportunity and it is working out okay so far. It has caused changes in how we go to sleep for naps and bedtime though. There have been struggles with the new situation and I know she was very confused and upset for awhile but I think that the adjusting time is over. The good part is that because I can't "do" anything when she cries at night I have stopped going in and she will go back to sleep in 5-10 minutes. The bad part is that when she isn't going to sleep again and keeps crying I still can't "do" much and it seems to get her more upset and take forever to calm her down if I do go in to check on her.

We have also ventured into the new territory of the tantrum. For Isabella it is more of a crying/screaming episode usually brought about by her not being able to go where she want when she wants. A fun one was when she had already had a rough day with a short nap. We went outside for a little while in the afternoon and I knew she was getting hot and we had to go get ready for dinner. I tried to lead her back toward the house from our playground in the complex. She did not like that one bit and started whining and groaning. I picked her up which caused an escalation to thrashing and screaming which continued all the way through the complex and up the stairs, into the house and onto the floor. Being 90 degrees at 5:00 pm she was a sweaty mess and still crying until she got it all out.

She is still usually very happy and pleasant but has these moments especially if she is tired or hungry. I am trying to think about how frustrating it is for her not to be able to communicate and so I really try to be patient and know that though those times are embarrassing and frustrating she they seem longer and bigger than they really are.
